TRAIN SMARTER, REACT FASTER

EXPLORE NOW

Meet Alexandru Diaconu - professional bodybuilder, martial artist, and lifelong coach who’s redefining what it means to train with purpose.

Born and raised in Romania, Alexandru started his athletic journey before most kids learned to ride a bike. At just four years old, he began practicing Ashihara Karate, a full-contact martial arts discipline known for its intensity and precision. Sixteen years later, he earned his black belt - and a deep understanding of both the body and the mind.

From the Dojo to the Gym

After more than a decade of competing at high levels, the wear and tear of full-contact fighting began to take its toll. “It was tough on the joints - especially my knees,” Alexandru shares. “Eventually, I realized I couldn’t keep training and competing at that level without risking more injuries.”

But his love for the sport never faded. By age 16, he was already coaching karate and discovering a new passion: helping others reach their limits. “Coaching came naturally to me,” he says. “It was never about money - it was about seeing people push past what they thought was possible.”

When he stepped away from competition, fitness became the next evolution of his passion. What started as a teenager’s side hobby quickly grew into a new career. Thanks to his martial arts discipline, he saw results fast - and others noticed. Soon, he was competing in bodybuilding, dominating local competitions, and eventually taking home one of the biggest honors in the sport: winning the Arnold Classic in Ohio at just 23 years old.

Training Beyond the Physical

For Alexandru, fitness has always been more than physical transformation - it’s about mental resilience and discipline.

“I train all kinds of clients,” he explains. “From people who just want to feel better to high-performing athletes. My goal is always the same: help them push limits - mentally, physically, and even spiritually.”

That’s where BlazePod came in. “When I found BlazePod, it completely changed the game,” Alexandru says. “In martial arts and combat sports, reaction time is everything. You can’t think - you just have to react. BlazePod trains exactly that.”

By combining BlazePod’s light-based reaction training with traditional strength workouts, Alexandru discovered a way to activate both the mind and the muscles. “It makes every workout more fun, but also more effective,” he says. “You’re building coordination, focus, and timing - all while training your body.”

Favorite Drills & Combos

Alexandru’s coaching style is built around full-body engagement. “I love creating custom drills that challenge coordination and power together,” he says.

One of his favorites? The TRX® × BlazePod combo - a fusion that brings strength, balance, and brain training into one. “It’s next level. You’re stabilizing, reacting, and focusing all at once. It feels like your whole body - and brain - are firing together.”

Coaching with Challenge and Care

Alexandru’s sessions are tough - and his clients know it. “They think it’s extremely challenging,” he laughs. “Sometimes they even want to quit - but that’s where growth happens.”

He believes that as a coach, it’s your duty to push people through those walls while keeping training enjoyable. “That’s what I love most about BlazePod - it keeps things fun and competitive, even when the work is hard.”

A Community That Inspires

Joining the BlazePod Creator community has been a huge milestone for Alexandru. “I love it. Everyone’s supportive, passionate, and always pushing boundaries,” he says. “Being new in the U.S., it means a lot to connect with people who share that same mindset - to help others live healthier, stronger lives.”

Looking Ahead

As for what’s next? Alexandru’s eyes are set on growth - for himself and for others.

“My goal for 2025 is to help as many people as possible reach their best shape - physically and mentally,” he says. “I’m working to grow my team, expand my online training, and eventually open my own training center.”

What keeps him motivated? The journey itself. “Only I know how much I’ve been through to get here,” he says. “And I’m too deep in the game to stop now.”

His advice for anyone starting out? “There’s only one direction - and that’s up. Keep pushing forward, stay determined, and never stop improving.”
